Raken's own framing is about visibility and risk: "Improve visibility and reduce risk with our easy-to-use web and mobile app," built around digital daily reports, time cards, production tracking, toolbox talks, checklists and observations. It serves subcontractors, general contractors and heavy civil firms, and lists excavating among the trades it works with.
PM Axsus is narrower. It exists to answer whether the job is ahead or behind, in cost and in schedule, from data the crew captured at the point of installation — and to keep the compaction test and pressure test with the production they prove.
Plenty of contractors genuinely need the first thing and not the second. If your daily report is the deliverable, Raken is a strong answer.

Raken has earned its reputation with field crews, and the reasons are worth stating plainly.
Daily reports crews actually complete

Safety and quality routines built in
Managed checklists, observations and toolbox talks are core parts of the product — the recurring safety rhythm most field teams have to run whether or not their software helps.
Production insights from field data
Raken tracks labor, materials and equipment on site and provides an "automated production insights dashboard" that turns "time, material, and budget data" into charts for monitoring performance.

Straight answers
Can PM Axsus replace Raken?
For a self-performing civil contractor, yes in most of the overlap: daily records, time, production, photos and safety acknowledgments. Where Raken is stronger is breadth across trades and the polish of its daily reporting flow. If your crews are happy in Raken and your only complaint is that it does not tell you where the job stands financially, that is exactly the gap PM Axsus is built for — but it is a switch, not an add-on.
Does Raken do earned value management?
Raken publishes production tracking and an automated production insights dashboard covering time, material and budget data. We did not find Earned Value Management, or planned versus earned versus actual variance reporting, described on Raken's public pages as of September 2026. If that matters to your decision, ask Raken directly rather than taking our word for it.
We are a small crew. Is PM Axsus overkill?
Possibly. PM Axsus is aimed at self-performing civil contractors in the $5M–$50M range, and it publishes a starting price of $499/month.
