Fieldwire is built around the drawing set. PM Axsus is built around the installed quantity. For most civil contractors these are not competing purchases so much as different problems — and this page is about telling them apart.

Fieldwire, owned by Hilti, states its own scope clearly: software that "keeps your team in the field connected on all core use cases: plan viewing, punch list, scheduling, and reporting." Drawings, markups, as-builts, tasks tied to locations on a sheet, punch and inspection workflows, RFIs and submittals.
That is enormously useful on a building. On a sewer main or a mass grading job, the drawing set is not usually where the money is decided — the production rate is, along with the compaction test that lets you keep the lift you placed.
PM Axsus does not do plan management. Fieldwire does not market civil quantity or earned value tracking. Knowing which of those two gaps hurts you more is the whole decision.
What Fieldwire is genuinely good at
Fieldwire is a strong product in its lane, with unusually transparent pricing for this industry.
Drawings on any device, including offline
Fieldwire markets plan viewing and markup across "drawings on any device (Web, iOS, Android)," as-built capture with offline functionality, and document management with automatic version control.
Task and punch workflows tied to the plan
Assign tasks, work from up-to-date drawings, run punch lists and inspections, with messaging tied to specific tasks — a genuinely good model for coordinating trades on a building.
Published, per-user pricing
Fieldwire lists Basic at "$0 per user / month" (5 users, 3 projects, 100 sheets), Pro at "$39 per user / month billed annually," Business at "$64" and Business Plus at "$89," as listed on their pricing page, September 2026. Very few competitors publish figures at all.
Scale and backing
Fieldwire says it "powers over 4,000,000 jobsites worldwide" and supports projects from under $10 million to over $1 billion. It is owned by Hilti.
Where PM Axsus is built differently
PM Axsus is not a better version of Fieldwire. It is a different tool for a different kind of job.
The unit of work is a quantity, not a sheet
Civil production is measured in feet of pipe, cubic yards moved and lifts compacted. PM Axsus is organised around those quantities and the cost codes they belong to.
Earned value on the day it happens
Planned versus earned versus actual, with cost and schedule variance, updated as the crew logs work at the point of installation.
Civil test and inspection records
Compaction reports, pressure testing, material deliveries and daily hazard acknowledgments as standard record types — the civil paperwork trail, not a punch list.
No plan management, and we will say so
PM Axsus does not do drawing version control, markup or BIM viewing. If managing a live drawing set is your daily pain, Fieldwire solves a problem PM Axsus does not attempt.

Straight answers
Do Fieldwire and PM Axsus compete?
Only partly. Fieldwire's stated core use cases are plan viewing, punch list, scheduling and reporting; PM Axsus is about field capture of quantities, time and civil tests reported as earned value. A contractor doing vertical work with a heavy drawing set and a contractor laying pipe have genuinely different problems, and these two products reflect that.
Can PM Axsus manage our drawings?
No. PM Axsus does not offer drawing version control, markup or a BIM viewer, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. If that is your daily pain, Fieldwire is built for it and we are not.
Fieldwire publishes prices. Does PM Axsus?
Yes. PM Axsus lists a starting price of $499/month on pm-axsus.com, with higher tiers for the full Axsus Intelligence OS capabilities. The models differ — Fieldwire charges per user, PM Axsus is a company subscription — so compare them against your actual headcount rather than the headline figure.
